Houston Community College Nursing. The schools were discovered in 1971 under the administration of the Houston Independent School District as a result of a public referendum. In 1989 Houston Community College (HCC) separated from HISD and formed its own Board of Trustees. And in 1992 the HCC was restructured into a multi-university system.

Houston Community College's service areas are the Houston Independent School District, Katy, Spring Branch, Stafford District, Alief Independent School District, and the Fort Bend section of the City of Missouri.

Houston Community High School Nursing Accreditation

The Houston Community College Nursing Accreditation for ADN programs is Approval by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).

The Houston Community Academy System is accredited by the SACSCOC (Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) to provide associate degrees.

The Houston Community College District is accredited as a body by the SACSCOC (Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) to provide associate degrees. SACSCOC is 1 of 6 national regional accreditation agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The Commission oversees tertiary accreditation in eleven southern states. You can contact the College Commission at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call at the number 404-679-4500 to ask for info about Houston Community College District accreditation.

The Houston Community College District was first accepted into membership at SACS on Dec 19, 1977. Accreditation was granted temporarily and annually for 5 years until the full Independent Study was completed and reaffirmation of accreditation received for 10 years after Dec 17, 1982. HCC received the final accreditation affirmation in June 2012 .

Students in the Associate's Degree in Nursing program are taught the knowledge and skills needed to work with patients and their families in a variety of health care settings.

The application period is Monday, 3 June - Thursday, 1 August. And at Fall: August 2020 applicationa accepted at January 2, 2020 – April 1, 2020 and review on April 02, 2020 – April 13, 2020. Student Notified of Acceptance Status by co.adnadmit@hccs.edu on April 15, 2020.

Applications for this program are accepted during the specific application window listed in the Admission Guide.

Evaluation of the proposed application starts after the application window is closed.

Students will be able to after Graduation from the program (Consistent with Rule 215.9)
  • Associate Degree Nursing graduates for the first time NCLEX pass rates will reach or above the required 80%, according to the TBON 215.4 (c) (2) rule
  • Program completion: Student retention will be 70% or higher within 150% of the time since entering the program
  • Satisfaction of the program: 80% of graduates will report satisfaction (3.0 or above average scores on the Associate Degree Graduate exit survey) with preparation for nursing practice provided by the program.
  • Employer satisfaction: 80% of graduate employers will report satisfaction (3.0 or above average value on employer surveys) with graduate competencies as determined by student learning outcomes and graduate competencies. Job placement: 80% or more graduates will be employed within six months after completion of the program as a Registered Nurse.

Student learning outcomes. After graduation, students will be able to:
  • * Communicate effectively with families, patients, and health care team members
  • * Utilize a systematic problem solving approach in treating patients with general and complex needs.
  • * Demonstrate an appropriate entry level Associate Degree Nursing Program for didactic competencies to pass the NCLEX licensing exam
  • * Demonstrate safe entry-level nursing practice as defined by the four Essential Competency roles Different from Texas Nursing Programs (DECs) Graduates.

Registered Nursing Transition - AAS
HCC offers an optional route to the AAS Nursing Degree through the LVN to RN transition program. To apply for the program, students must have graduated from an accredited LVN program and fulfilled all the requirements for admission to the AAS Nursing program including a criminal background check.

Students must show evidence of one of the following: last six months (in one year) full-time clinical practice or a new year (in one year) part-time clinical practice, and recently completed a nursing refresher course (in one year ).
