University of Houston-Victoria, Nursing Program! offers an innovative RN-BSN online program for registered nurses (RN) who graduate from a diploma or associate degree nursing program.
The curriculum builds on the skills and knowledge of registered registered nurses and prepares nurses to meet the challenges of a dynamic and complex health care environment.
This post-licensing program is available for individuals who currently hold unencumbered Texas or designated State RN licenses. The UHV

Graduates from the RN Program to BSN Students' Expected Results (ESO) will:
- Synthesize knowledge from social and behavioral sciences, biology, humanities, and nursing to provide sensitive and culturally sensitive care to individuals, families and communities.
- Demonstrate investigations and analyzes in applying patient care technology and information systems to support safe nursing practices and population risk reduction.
- Lead safety and quality improvement activities as part of the interprofessional team and as advisors and managers of nursing care.
- Manage care transitions and promote population risk reduction with diverse communities in collaboration with interprofessional health care team members.
- Participate in monitoring institutional, professional and public policies to maintain compliance with standards of practice within the legal, ethical and regulatory framework of professional nurses.
- Demonstrate leadership skills related to clinical and professional problems, finance, and human resources in providing and evaluating care.
- Show leadership and advocacy that reflects the values and ethics of the nursing profession.
Tuition and Fees
* In state tuition fees: $268.94 per credit and $8,068.20 for 30 nursing credit courses (including Nursing Program course costs $24 per course.*).
RN to BSN Program Requirements
The RN online program to BSN is for ADN graduates / diplomas from institutions accredited by one of six recognized regional accrediting associations and recognized national accrediting associations.
Registered nurse applicants who have a license in the US who have completed an international nursing diploma program that is not affiliated with universities may not meet the Associate Degree requirements for admission to the University of Houston-Victoria RN to the BSN program because of the non-academic nature of this type of course; contact the International Student Advisor for more information.
Minimum score of 89 on the TOEFL for students from International. Applicants must submit the following credentials to the Admissions Office and Records:
Requirements for Admission
- Valid, unencumbered Texas evidence or a designated State Registered Nurse license.
- Applicants must have graduated from a regionally accredited degree or diploma program.
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities are present, sent directly from each institution to UH-Victoria.
- The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum GPA of ADN 2.0, an overall GPA of 2.5, no "D" or "F" scores unless repeated and have received a "C" or higher, no more than two (2) repetitions only
- Complete application for undergraduate admissions. Application for undergraduate admissions (Apply Texas).
The lower division nursing prerequisite courses are listed below, which must be completed before enrolling in a nursing course.
- 3 semester hours of statistics (can take psychological statistics or mathematical statistics)
- 8 semester hours of Human Anatomy and Physiology
- 4 semester hours of Microbiology
- 3 semesters of Chemistry or Physics
- 6 semesters of Psychology (PSYC 2301 Introduction to Psychology, and PSYC 2314 Human Growth and Development)
- RN to BSN students will be given up to 36 semester hours of advanced credit placement to successfully complete the Associate Degree in Nursing and subsequent RN licenses.
In addition, students must also fulfill all university requirements to obtain a bachelor's degree as found in the WAVE UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENT section of this catalog in addition to the program requirements below: UHV catalog
Upper Division: 30 semester hours of core Nursing

RN students to BSN online are expected to:
- Have and get access to computers, webcams, and high-speed internet.
- Having basic competencies in computers and word processing.
- Be familiar with the mission of the program and to fulfill their expectations described in this catalog, orientation of new students, and student handbooks.
- Maintain high standards of academic honesty and ethical behavior as outlined in the subject syllabus and student handbook.
- Make sure the degree plan requirements are understood and contact an advisor immediately to resolve any questions about registration.
- Comply with application deadlines, financial aid deadlines, and tuition and fees deadlines.
- Make sure contact information such as address and email address stays up-to-date in their MyUHV self-service account.
- Apply for graduation with a deadline published for the semester in which students will complete degree requirements.
