Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The University of St. Thomas's four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program combines the UST core curriculum, specialized pre-nursing courses and courses in nursing. A baccalaureate in nursing degree programs at Carol and Odis Peavy School of Nursing at University of St. Thomas received accreditation from the Commission Collegiate Nursing Education.
The curriculum focuses on patient-centered nursing using a newly developed curriculum based on the construction of healing and holistic care. This course prepares students for an initial RN license and entry into the world of work.
Students must first be accepted at the University to be eligible for admission to the nursing program. Students will enroll in nursing majors offered during the junior and senior years.

- BSN prepares you to get an initial RN license. You will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN License Exam to practice as a beginner-level nurse.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Creating a healing environment is the main direction of nursing. The UST Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program enables professional nurses to expand their abilities through transformational leadership practices. By translating research into practice, graduates are equipped to create change throughout the organization that triggers transformation in patient care and welfare. They will become experts in creating a healing environment.
This program accepts nurses who have earned bachelor's or master's degrees in nursing. Those with a bachelor's degree complete the program in three years of full time study. Graduates of the Master complete the program in a shorter time based on individual reviews from previous graduate work which will count towards the DNP degree. Part time options are also available.
The PSON only recognizes a group of 15 students per year to give better individual attention to all students when needed. Collaboration and mutual support are features of the curriculum, balanced by a variety of courses including intensive, online study and hybrid courses.
Students focus their developing capacity to create a healing environment by selecting patient populations to work with throughout the program. This culminates in the official and supervised DNP Project. Students work in collaboration with the leadership of their chosen clinical site and clinical expert trainer. Clinical expert trainers work with students directly throughout the program for the purpose of maximizing continuity and collaborative learning experiences with UST clinical partners.
DNP prepares you to become a transformational nurse leader in areas including:
